I have been blessed to have been able to talk with a boy in Columbia. His name is Felipe. He first came on Chat a few months ago, he had a question about temples because he lives close to one. We set up another time to talk and over the past few months we taught Felipe.
Felipe gradually gained a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as he read the Book of Mormon and prayed, attended church, and met with us and the local missionaries in Columbia! It has been amazing to see the change in Felipe as he learned about the church and gained a testimony! He started reading the Book of Mormon on his own, and going to church EVERY week without even being asked to go!
It was not easy for Felipe all of the time. He truly wanted to be baptized, but due to some circumstances it took Felipe a long time to be baptized. As you will read below we spoke with Felipe for 5 months before he got baptized. As we spoke with Felipe we could see the change which was taking place in his life. Yesterday Felipe was baptized!!
I asked Felipe if he would be willing to write his testimony for me so I could share it on my blog… He was more than willing. In Fact, about ten minutes after I asked him, he had written it up and sent it to me! Here is his testimony, I will first post it in Spanish, which is his first language, and then I will share the translation of it in English.
Translation:
“Brother, yesterday was really an incredible day, you are a witness of me having to wait five months to be a member of the church. I am very happy to have known the gospel and to be a witness of the blessings that are received, I am grateful that Heavenly Father has chosen me to have learned of this church without a doubt that it is true. I want to testify that without a doubt that this is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, who directs the church through the prophet Thomas S. Monson and his apostles. Yesterday I left all my sins in the waters of baptism, starting my new life of service to Jesus Christ and I want to tell you with all surety that I will always testify of him, and that he is the Savior of the world. I give thanks to the testimony that I received that this is the true church. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I also know that Jesus Christ lives and that thanks to his atoning sacrifice we can return to the presence of Heavenly Father, this is my testimony in the name of Jesus Christ Amen."
