Summer Heat

Since Summer Began here in Utah it has been really hot!! It seems like there is nowhere to get out of the heat when I am outside. there are things which I do to resist the heat of the summer, one drink lots of water, two, when I can stay inside and out of the heat. however the Second choice is not always possible, sometimes I have to go outside for one reason or another. Though, both of these method work in staving off heat exhaustion they can be hard to do or remember. For Example, it is good to drink plenty of water on a hot day but sometimes it can be hard to remember to do it. In life we have things that are similar to heat exhaustion, but instead of Physical dangers we have Spiritual dangers. A lot of those spiritual dangers can come, and most often come in the form of peer pressure, or just being caught up in the things of the world. Just like drinking lots of water on a hot day we have other things that we can do for to keep us from being spiritually harmed, Such as reading our scriptures, praying, and going to church each Sunday.

I want to share an analogy that I heard from one of my Young Men's Leader's. the analogy is of a swimming pool. during the morning the water in the pool is cold, and would be very refreshing on a hot summer day. As the day goes on the sun comes up and it starts to get very hot outside, and the heat from the Sun slowly warms the water in the pool, and by 3:00 or so the water is at a temperature that is not very refreshing, and actually quite hot. we can be like that water in the pool if we are not careful. we can go day to day in the world, and be negatively influenced by it and not even know it. However, If we cover our pool with some kind of shade, we can protect the water from going from a nice refreshing temperature to a hot temperature that is not very refreshing at all. by living the standards that the Lord has put forth we can keep the temperature of our pools in an enjoyable state, that we will be happy with!!
